  1. First a forest is planted for paper production and left to grow for 20 years.

  2. When big enough for paper making,trees are cut down, leaves and branches removed and main trunks transported.

  3. The logs are next carried to a machine that strips off the bark.

  4. The “clean” logs are taken to a factory where they are fed into a machine that breaks them up into chips.

  5. The wood chips are passed into a bath of water and chemical where the wood fibre is liquidised into a pulp.

  6. The pulp is poured into shallow trays where water drains through holes at the bottom. Paper is forming.

  7. The paper is loaded onto steam rollers where it dries out as it passes over several of these rollers.

  8. The paper is now ready. On the next machine, it is rolled into large rolls to be ready for the next factory.

  9. After arriving at the printing press, the paper is printed and cut into the final product.
