Spanish at the middle school level • In 7th grade, students take the first half of the high school level Spanish 1 course, referred to as Spanish 1A • In 8th grade, students take the second half of the high school level Spanish 1 course, referred to as Spanish 1B • Upon successful completion of both 1A and 1B, the student will have earned 1 high school foreign language credit.

  3. What your child will learn in this class At the end of the Spanish 1, the student will be able to: • Answer questions and carry out simple conversations in Spanish • Write about basic topics using the vocabulary and grammar learned • Given a selected passage, the student will be able to interpret the main idea based on learned vocabulary

  4. Textbooks • En Español 1a or 1b, McDougal Littell • En Español, Cuaderno de Actividades, McDougal Littell (activityworkbook) • Teacher-providedsupplementalmaterials (songs, video clips, studentreaders, artwork)
