  3. Why are they useful? • Enables communication upwards, downwards and across the organisation • Supports performance, especially during change by promoting understanding, feedback, awareness and contribution • Helps recognise good news and achievements, clarifies “negative” news and empowers staff during bad times • Supports real engagement through promoting collective aims and responsibility

  4. Process • A cycle of meetings is established for the management hierarchy, and deadlines to cascade information out to teams • A “core brief” is created which is “standard” • “Local briefs” are added to the core • All information is cascaded, face to face, verbally, within a 5 day timescale • Guidelines are produced for managers, and others

  5. Arrangements • Set out dates in advance • Select days and times when most of the team are around • Aim to have at least 4 people there at a time but not more than 12 – better to have more meetings • Set out expectations of attendance • Choose an accessible venue • Circulate all dates in advance and send out reminders with confirmation

  6. The Core Brief • Comprises 30% of the meeting content that staff must know/ should know / is nice to know • The rest is specific to your local area/ function/ team • Create and agenda and flow to the briefing (headings)
