  1. Courtly Love in Modern Media Project We have been discussing the role that courtly love plays in Medieval Literature.

  2. We have been discussing the role that courtly love plays in Medieval Literature. We are now going to look at what role the media plays in our perceptions of modern love. In order to accomplish this, you will watch a modern epic, romantic comedy, or romantic drama and evaluate it based upon the criteria we have discussed in class. Your final project will be housed in a PowerPoint following the format of this show. Rational

  3. Provide a brief synopsis of the plot of the movie. (Under 150 words) Make sure you highlight the major plot points that are essential to understanding the movie. Slide 2

  4. Include: • the production year • The major character • Any awards the film recieved • Use www.imbd.com to help with this. Slide 3

  5. Analyze the male protagonist. • Is he archetypal or anti-archetypal based upon the criteria discussed in the Courtly Love PowerPoint? • How does his portrayal influence the romantic relationship in the film? Slide 4

  6. Analyze the female protagonist • Is she a archetype of Courtly Love or Modern Love? • Trace her actions in love. How do her actions influence the romantic relationship in the film. Slide 5
