  1. The Life and Mission of CFC

  2. What is Couples for Christ? • Catholic international association of faithful, recognized by Vatican. • Committed to the work of global evangelization and renewal, with the goal of winning the world for Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. • Bring the light of Christ to those who are struggling to be truly Christian families in the modern world.

  3. CFC Statement of Philosophy • Marriage as an indissoluble institution. • God created man and wife with equal personal worth and dignity. They compliment each other in different roles. • The right and responsibility of parents to educate their children. • Family shares in the life and mission of the Church ‑‑ through prayers, evangelization and service to men. • Christian family renewal by inviting Jesus as the head of family, and allowing the power of the Holy …… Spirit to work through us.

  4. A bit of history… • CFC started in June 1981 in Manila, Philippines, with 16 couples. • CFC started in Archdiocese of Jakarta with the blessing of late Archbishop Leo Sukoto SJ in 1990, with 12 couples. • Now, CFC is in 25 of 37 dioceses in Indonesia (members around 6,000 families) • Archbishop Chaput has given the blessings and recognition for CFC to be involved and actively participates in the parish.

  5. How do we accomplish it? • Vision: Family in the Holy Spirit Renewing the Face of the Earth. • Mission: - Building Church of Home - Building Church of the Poor • Five Pillars: - Evangelization & Mission - Pastoral & Spiritual Formation - Family Ministry - Social Ministry / ANCOP - Mission support

  6. Beatification of Luigi-Maria 21 Oct 2001, Pope John Paul II beatified a married couple, Luigi & Maria, for faithfully living their marriage and family life. Way of family = Way of holiness (sacramental life) The blessed couple lived an ordinary life in an extraordinary way.

  7. Our Identity… • We are pro-God, pro-Family, pro-Life, and pro-Poor. • We have integrated programs of Family Ministry: Couples, Singles, Youth, Kids, Servants, and Handmaids. • Our typical life and formation: household prayer meeting, teaching, assembly, evangelization (within the environment of Christian love, caring and sharing).

  8. Oneness with Church • Servant within the Catholic Church, in the work of evangelization, family life renewal and the total Christian liberation. • Live out our life and mission in communion with, and submit to the authority of bishop as shepherd of the diocese. • Conform to the official Church teachings, and communicate the Catholic faith in all its integrity.

  9. What have we done in so many years! Re-evangelize thousands/millions of Catholic Families. Members of CFC Families have struggled to become Salt and Light in their home, to their parishes and societies. Members of CFC Families have maintained Daily Prayer and Scripture Reading, and Sharing the Scripture in the Prayer Meeting. We have grown more faithfully to the Eucharistic Life and Celebration, become Brothers and Sisters to Others, and also Share Our Life to the Needy.

  10. What we will do in future years! Always Back to Basic (Faithful to Our Identity) Build Our Children, Young Generations to be the Next Leaders, Our Future Church. Maintain and Strengthen the Intimacy of Christian Love, Caring and Sharing. True Faith in Christ (Col 2:6-7) – Become More United with Church, More Concrete Service to Society.
