  1. Part 5: Integrity

  2. Integrity “A good name is to be more desired than great riches, favor is better than silver and gold.” Proverbs 22:1 2

  3. Honesty We are to be absolutely honest “He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out” (Proverbs 10:9)

  4. Honesty Culture doesn’t set standards, God does. "You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a large and a small. You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. You shall have a full and just weight; you shall have a full and just measure, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you." (Deuteronomy 25:13-15)

  5. Vows • The speaker (communicator)has the responsibility to make sure the other party understands the transaction.

  6. Vows • To whom is a vow made? “When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for he takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! (Ecclesiastes 5:4)

  7. Vows • Can we break a vow? “It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay” (Ecclesiastes 5:5).

  8. Vows • What are the consequences of making vows? “Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?” (Ecclesiastes 5:6)

  9. Vows If we keep our vows, God will always protect us from wrongful losses. T orF

  10. Vows • Practical steps to keeping your vows: • When in doubt, say “no” • Prioritize your activities • Do your homework • Write down agreements

  11. Other Integrity Issues • Conflict of Interest “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4)

  12. Other Integrity Issues • Truth in advertising “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight” (Proverbs 12:22)

  13. Other Integrity Issues • Competitive marketing “He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding keeps silent” (Proverbs 11:12) • Don’t build yourself up by tearing others down. • Do you view your competitor as an enemy? • There is a market for a true need.

  14. Other Integrity Issues • “Underground Economy” • Illegal activities • Unrecorded transaction - “off the books” "And He said to them, 'Whose likeness and inscription is this?' They said to Him 'Caesar's.' Then He said to them, 'Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's'" (Matthew 22:20-21) Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2

  15. Other Integrity Issues • Don’t give or take bribes. "He who profits illicitly troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live." (Proverbs 15:27)

  16. Integrity Principle God sets the standards for integrity. 17
