  1. Massive star formation: First results with ATCA at 3mm Vincent Minier School of Physics, UNSW Tony Wong (ATNF) Michael Burton, Cormac Purcell, Tracey Hill, Lucyna Kedziora-Chudczer, Maria Hunt, Peter Barnes (UNSW) Simon Ellingsen (UTas), Dinah Cragg (Monash), Andrej Sobolev (USU)

  2. ATCA observations at 3 mm (June – October 2002)  Hot molecular cores and methanol masers  follow-up of UNSW/Mopra observations (UNSW + Tony Wong)  85.5 and 86.9 GHz methanol masers  follow-up of SEST/Mopra work by Cragg et al. + M117 (UNSW + Tony + UTas + Monash)  Continuum emission from dust grains  follow-up of SIMBA observations (UNSW)

  3. Hot molecular cores and 6.7 GHz methanol masers • 80% methanol masers isolated from any radio source • Hypotheses: high-mass protostars or non-ionising YSOs • ATCA-3mm observations of spectral lines: • Do methanol masers trace hot molecular cores?

  4. UC HII + IRAS ? Methanol maser = molecular core Methanol maser Walsh et al. 1998. G318.9-0.20 (IRAS 14567-5846) • HCN, HCO+(Mopra); HC3N, CH3OH • EW214, 750A • 6.7 GHz methanol masers forming a line

  5. Coincident within 0.5 arcsec with the 6.7 GHz maser position + Coincident in velocity Coincident in space 85.5 & 86.9 GHz methanol masers G345.01+1.79: 750A Ellingsen et al.

  6. Continuum emission from dust grains G5.89-0.39: methanol maser + UC HII SIMBA@1.2 mm + ATCA@3 mm UC HII H75 Methanol maser
