  3. Summer fun for new families! San Jose Earthquakes fun! BENEFITS OF SPRING RECRUITING Tiger dens organized before school starts! Only time you can recruit in Kindergarten classes Parents involved earlier

  4. GEAR UP:Scheduling your Recruitment • Meet with School Principal (early April) • Select a date 2-4 weeks away (complete facility use forms as needed) • Schedule a Boy Talk for the week of the recruitment • Order promotional supplies

  5. WARM UP:Promoting your Recruitment • Order supplies (flyers, yard signs, etc) • Hang yard signs 2 weeks prior • Deliver flyers 1 week and 2 weeks prior • Hand out stickers during Boy Talk (day of or before recruiting meeting) • Utilize school audience (newsletter, open house, website)

PLAY BALLConducting your Recruitment • Make it welcoming *Greeter *Sign in sheet *Name tags • Make it fun! *Activity *Show pictures *Goofy song • Keep it simple – highlight activities, touch on purpose & values, refer to parent guide and pack calendar, have a follow up meeting pre-scheduled, keep it positive! • Be effective – get all paperwork done tonight, collect fees, have a follow up meeting in a week to collect YPT cards for adults and conduct new parent orientation

COOL DOWNFollow Up • Turn in registrations ASAP • Contact all families who attended with-in 2 days • Have a follow up meeting in a week • Encourage adults to take Youth Protection Training • Remind families of next Pack meeting, Scout O Rama, and all Summer Activities • Work closely with the new Tiger Den - assign a coach

Kindergarten teachers are the key Assign a Tiger coach (existing leader) to guide the Tiger parents through the summer and develop the new Tiger Den leader(s) Simple monthly activities keeps them engaged Spring Training with the Rookies:TIGER CUBS

Tiger Cub Support • Tiger parent orientation/training days – every Saturday in June • Activities this spring/summer: • April 28 – “Shoot out in the Old West #1” Camp Chesebrough • May 5 – “OK Corral” Camp Chesebrough • May 12 – Scout O Rama at Kelley Park • June 9 – “Sheriff & Deputy” Camp Chesebrough • July 7 - “Shoot out in the Old West #2” Camp Chesebrough • July 14 – Scout Night with the San Jose Earthquakes • July 21– “Tiger Cub Safari” Camp Chesebrough • July 27-29 “Fun in the Sun Family Camp” Camp Chesebrough • August 11 - “Shoot out in the Old West #3” Camp Chesebrough • Sept 1-3 – “Labor Day Family Camp” Camp Chesebrough • Go to the Beach • Go to the Zoo

RECOGNITION SOCCER BELT LOOP WORK SHOP FOR THE WHOLE PACK Register a Tiger den by May 30th and Earthquakes Academy Player(s) will visit your Pack meeting and host a workshop $20 GIFT CERTIFICATE CUB CAMP OR CAMP CHESEBROUGH WEEKEND PROGRAM For every 4 new Cub Scouts your Pack registers between April 1and June 29, the Pack will be awarded a $20 gift certificate to be used for Day Camp registration or Camp Chesebrough weekend programs through December 31, 2012. VIP Cub Scouts at July 14 Earthquakes Game Cub Scouts from the • Top 4 Packs in the Council in percentage growth by June 29th (over June 2011) • Top 4 Packs in the Council in total new boys recruited April 1 – June 29th get pre-game VIP roles such as Player Escorts, Ball Boys, and Flag carriers at the July 14th Earthquakes Scout Night Game* at Buckshaw stadium.
