  2. Rome, a city with marked social differences, towards the year 60. Many slaves believe in Jesus, but mix up this new faith in Jesus with their former beliefs andthe many Roman gods. The question for them persists: Who is Jesus?

  3. The Pharisees:He blasphemes against God; is a drunkard and glutton; goes with sinners; is possessed by the devil. His relatives: He is crazy. He lost his mind. His compatriots:Where did he get all his knowledge? Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary? How does he dare to speak to us like that? The authoritiesdid everything possible to discourage and discredit him, capture and eliminate him. There were many different opinions about Jesus: People admired him:He is John the Baptist; he is the prophet Elijah… never has anyone spoken like this… Alsoin Rome manny people on hearing about Jesus asked: How is it this new God? What is his specialty? Where are they offering sacrifices to him? Where is his templo?

  4. Jesus is the novelty John and God endorse it: D After me comes one who is more powerful that I am 1:7 You are my Son, The Boloved; You are the Chosen One1:11 New wine, new skins!...2:22

  5. He brings new hope Father-God is coming Receive this glad tidings: God is offering new possibilities for the future. Change your heart, your attitudes and your connections to accept this offer from God. 1:15

  6. Living for service I have come not to be served but to serve, to give my life as a ramson for many… 10:45 Always human, joyful, simple, close to all. He mingles with all. He allows himself to be questioned. He adjust to the capacity of the people… 4:33

  7. He raises up the lowly To the paralitic: Stand up, take your mat and go home 2:11 To the paralized hand: Stand here in the center and streach out your hand 3:3.5 To the dead girl:Little girl, get up! 5:41

  8. He encourages the fearful Do you still do not understand? 8:21 Why are you so frightened? Do you still have no faith? 4:40 Courage, it is me; don’t be afraid 6:50 Be opened!7:34

  9. Humanizes the worried Frees them from fanatisism:Be silent and come out of this man! 1:26 He makes them listen and talk: Dumb and deaf spirit, I command you: leave and never enter him again. 9:25 Commands the storm: Quiet, be still!4:39 He mades them sane and peaceful: Go home to your people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you. 5:19

  10. Favors those more in need To the marginalized leper: Be clean! 1:41 To the disdained Levi: Follow me. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners. 2:14.17 To the looked down (the sick woman): Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace. 5:34 To the hungry peoploe: Give them something to eat...You have some loaves: how many? 6:37-38 This poor widow put more than the rich12:43

  11. Is compassionate Let’s go to a quiet place to rest… But he had compassion on the crowd for they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began a long teaching session with them. 6:31.34

  12. Affectionate with children Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them. 10:14.16

  13. Conveys trust in God Have faith in God. I tell you, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it will be yours. 11:22-24 He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. 12:27

  14. Denounces injustices Youknow that among the gentiles those they call their rulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt… 10:42 My house is a house of prayer… But you have turned it into a den of thieves. 11:17 The teachers of the law devour the property of widows and for show offer long prayers. The more severe will be the sentence they receive. 12:40

  15. Asks for sacrifices If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. 8,34 If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself servant of all.9:35; 10:43 Si If your hand makes you fall into sin, cut it off! 9:43 Can you drink the cup that I shall drink? 10:38 When you pray, forgive whatever you have against anybody.11:25

You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. 12:30-31 The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 2:27

Is realist Keep your eyes open; look out for the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod. 8:15 False Christs and false prophets will arise… Be on your guard. 13:22-23 Take care that nobody deceives you. Many will come using my name and many will be deceived. 13:5-6 You will be hated on account of my Name 13:13 One of you is about to betray me... 14:18 This very night you will deny me three times… 14:30

  19. Has faith in his victory They will kill me, but after three days I will rise again… 10:34 One day you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.14:62 He was taken up into heaven; there at the right hand of God 16:19
