  1. Integrated Build and Test P18001 April 4, 2018

  2. Agenda • Team Vision • Problem Tracking • Physical Prototype • Demo and Description • Electrical Prototype • Software Documentation • Electrical Demonstration • Testing Results • Plans • Administrative Update • Budget and BoM

  3. Team Vision • During this Phase, the team planned to assemble a functional prototype before the arrival of the PCB, write and optimize the software for the final prototype, and complete and document as many outstanding tests as possible. The PCB was ordered and has arrived, and will be assembled for our final prototype during the next and final phase of MSD. The team also planned to create proper documentation for problem tracking and solution generation. • The team was able to efficiently design a new LUT for software speed and storage efficiency, update and 3D print a case for mechanical testing, and solder and glue a functional, 2-FSR prototype for electrical testing and verification. The team created problem tracking chart with problems, solutions, and critical ranking, and also drafted a poster and outline for the final paper.

  5. Physical Prototype

  6. Electrical Prototype • Prototype v1.0 (“Protoboard Prototype”) is soldered and constructed • Use of ESP32 Development Board (with Bluetooth Capility) • 2-Channel FSR Input • 9-axis Sensor Hookup • 350 mA battery inside of case, battery life tested to be roughly 12 hours and 30 minutes

  7. Electrical Prototype Demo Video Archive: ESP32+FSR: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wYKexoUQCVZnlPBlTcPuzcYtfe6EXCHg Actuation: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XaOSZ7hQ6rkTQJx_NNivYOLEay4EtM2o

  8. Electrical Prototype (Software Documentation) Link to active document: https://tinyurl.com/winotsoftware • Command Words • 8-bit • Encoding: [EN X-AXIS Y-AXIS Z-AXIS FINGER1 FINGER2 FINGER3 FINGER4] • XOR axis info with finger info for efficiency • Each command word corresponds to one entry in the LUT • Hash Table LUT • Essentially, the command word is ‘indexable’ into the hashmap, meaning no further processing has to be done to transmit the desired ascii character once the command word has been generated (optimized for efficiency) • Soon-To-Be Downloadable Files: • wi_not.h • wi_not.cpp

  9. Testing Results (Electrical/Software) • Battery Life: • Battery life test revealed a continuous life rating of approximately 12 hours and 30 minutes • A second test on battery life that more closely simulates the device use case will be a deliverable for this weekend (4/6-4/8) • Bluetooth: • Pair, rename, and password functionality have been added • Completing packet-send procedure and testing it’s length of connection is Tre’s ASAP deliverable • Software Efficiency • LUT structure reduced global variable space from 2500+ bytes to ~100 bytes (133% of available on-board memory on the ESP32 to <10%), which will vastly improve speed • Overall speed testing is a deliverable for this weekend (4/6-4/8)
