  3. All About Sea Turtles • Are living things • Survive off food and water • Can move on their own • Grow and change throughout their life

  4. Sea Turtles Hatching • Crawl onto beach to lay eggs • Digs hole in the sand using flippers • The eggs are laid in the hole • Then turtle covers eggs with sand • Many eggs are laid at one time

  5. Growth and Change • Sea turtle starts life as an egg • Sea turtle hatches from egg • Baby turtle grows to look like parent

  6. Vocabulary • Life cycle: the way a living thing grows and changes

  7. All About Birds • Spend most of life looking for food • Some only eat meat • Some only eat plants • Some eat plants and meat • Have great eyesight • Use beaks to catch their food

  8. Vocabulary • Insectivores: only eat insects • Carnivores: only eat meat • Herbivores: plant eaters • Omnivores: plant and meat eaters

  9. Birds and Hatching • Birds hatch their babies in eggs • Some birds lay eggs daily • Some birds lay eggs yearly • Babies hatched in nest • Birds leave nest when can fly
