NNEW Description NextGen Network Enabled Weather (NNEW) serves as the core of NextGen weather support services and provides the capability for a common weather picture across the national airspace system. NNEW will identify, adapt and utilize standards for system wide weather data formatting and access.

  4. Major Milestones/Goals • Complete test plan for FY08 demonstration – June 08 • Complete test procedures for FY08 demonstration – Sep 2008 • Conduct FY08 Demonstration – Sep 2008 • Conduct FY09 Demonstration – Sep 2009 • Conduct FY10 Demonstration – Sep 2010

Accomplishments To Date • Initial demonstration conducted in FY07 • Utilized coordinated Data Standards and OGC Web Coverage Standards for gridded data • Combined data from 3 databases located around the US • Painted a consolidated picture from the 3 databases on a single screen • Completed goals for FY08 demonstration

FY08 Demonstration Components • In FY08 NNEW will demonstrate: • Implementation of a prototype 4-D Wx Data Cube & the ability to publish and access data from the Cube using selected standards for services and data formats • Satisfaction of a number of NNEW Use Cases • A simple implementation of the Single Authoritative Source concept • A simple implementation of ontologies to demonstrate interoperability among agencies

  7. Future Plans • In FY 09 and FY10 NNEW plans to conduct demonstrations of the 4-D Wx Data Cube • Building on the FY08 demonstration, the following additional capabilities will be added: • Implementation of a federated registry • Utilization of the FTI • Implementation of 4-D Wx Data Cube security • NNEW plans for the FY10 demonstration to include essentially all basic capabilities required for the 4-D Wx data Cube IOC
