  1. THE NCAA IS WRONGFULLY STEALING MONEY FROM STUDENT-ATHLETES Visual Aids by Joseph Maisonet

  2. Thesis and Specific Purpose • The fact that the NCAA makes billions of dollars from student-athletes year after year and does not pay them any kind of compensation is wrong and people should not support this act of immorality • The specific purpose is to perform a persuasive speech attempting to convince people to believe it is wrong that the National Collegiate Athletic Association does not pay student-athletes

  3. Introduction • One of the most controversial topics in sports of the present day is whether or not the NCAA should pay college athletes. The NCAA is the National Collegiate Athletic Association and it acts as the governing body of sports for over one thousand colleges and universities across America. As many people know the NCAA defines itself as a non-profit organization although it generates millions of dollars in revenue each year. Another well-known fact about the NCAA and college athletes is that none of these athletes are getting paid, even though the NCAA generates literally all of their revenue because of said student-athletes.

  5. Conclusion • Collegiate student-athletes are college students just like us who put an even added amount of pressure and stress on themselves by playing four to five years of a college sport. I have provided information that shows that the NCAA generates billions and billions of dollars through over 1,000 universities in the country while taking full advantage of collegiate-athletes talents. It is highly morally wrong and should be highly illegal but the NCAA is able to get around the laws with acts such as selling jerseys with no names on the back. These are just a few reasons as to why the NCAA should pay student-athletes and their needs to be a push for a change in the upcoming years of sports because the situation is only going to get worse.
