  3. This is the Fix It screen. At this site you can learn troubleshooting ideas for the different types of technology in your classroom.

  4. At this site you can learn to use the most common types of technology found in our school.

Steps for Troubleshooting • Desktop Computer • Unit will not power up • If computer does not come on when you press both the monitor and the CPU power button, make sure that all power cords are connected and the power strip is on. • If the computer still does not power up, repeat the above step as a double check. • If after repeating the above step twice the computer still will not power up, have a teammate fill out a Technology Repair Request with the exact problem you are having.

Steps for Troubleshooting • Desktop Computer • If you can not get onto the network, try the following steps • Make sure the Internet cable is connected both to the back of the CPU and to the orange box in the wall. If not, connect it. If so, go to the next bullet. • Check the dialogue box to make sure that you are logging into the WCES network site • Put only your user name not your full email address in on the user name line and your password on the password line • If this fails to log you in, check again to make sure you are trying to log into the WCES network site and then re-enter your user name and password • If you still can not log in, have a co-teacher or teammate try to log in for you using your log in information. Then using their own information. If they can log in with their information, there is a problem with your log in credentials. • If you have verified that the WCES network is in the network box and your user name and password are correct and you still can not log in, get a teammate to fill out a Technology Repair Request for you.

Steps for Troubleshooting • Desktop Computer • If the Walnut Creek desktop does not come up and you are sure you are logged in to the network, shut down the computer for 10 minutes and retry the steps on slide 6 of this presentation. • If there is still a problem, have a teammate fill out a Technology Repair Request for you. Please include the specific problem you are having.

  8. Steps for Troubleshooting • Printer Problems • Make sure the printer is plugged in to a power source and that it is connected to the CPU • Make sure the correct printer is set as your default printer • Click the start button • Settings • Printers and Faxes

  9. Steps for Troubleshooting • Printer Problems • After you have gotten to the printer selection page, right click the icon for the printer you would like to set as the default • Then left click • the line that says • Set as Default Printer

Steps for Troubleshooting • Printer Problems • If you need to select a printer that has no icon on the printer page, follow these directions to select a new printer. • Follow the directions from the previous slides to go the Printers and Faxes window. • Then follow the steps on the following slides to select a new printer.

  11. Click on Add a printer

  12. Click next in the Add Printer Wizard box

  13. Be sure the a network printer is checked Then click Next

  14. Make sure Find a printer in the directory is checked Then click Next

  15. When this screen comes up, click Find Now.

  16. A list of printers will come up.

  17. Double click on the name of the network printer you want to install.

  18. Make the selected printer your default printer by checking yes in this box. Make sure the box says yes, then click Next.
