Unlike present, preterite, imperfect or future the SUBJUNCTIVE is not a “time zone”. • It’s more of a CONSEQUENCE OR RESULT OF SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED EARLIER IN THE SENTENCE. • That’s why we talk about TRIGGERS THAT CAUSE (“TRIGGER”) the use of a verb called subjuntive Another way of thinking about the subjunctive is that it is a response to a stimulus. So, what are the stimuli that cause subjunctive?
