  3. How a typical American who lives to be 75 years old will have spent life

  4. “The greatest thing is to be found at one’s post as a child of God, living each day as though it were our last, but planning as though our world might last a hundred years.” C.S. Lewis

  5. Discussion Guide 1. What warning did James give those who make plans for the future? (James 4:13-14) The only true plan for one’s life is following the Lord’s will.

  6. Discussion Guide 2. What does (verse 14) say about the brevity of life? Our life is like a vapor that vanishes quickly in the grand scheme of things.

  7. Discussion Guide 3. Is it wrong to have a life plan?

  8. Discussion Guide 4. How does (verse 15) put it all in perspective? Our plan must be the Lord’s plan for our life.

  9. Discussion Guide 5. What does (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) teach about ownership of life? We have been bought by a price and we are to glorify God in all we do.

  10. Discussion Guide 6. How can you discover God’s will for your life?

  11. Discussion Guide 7. How can you insure you are in His will?

  12. Discussion Guide 8. What are the negative characteristics in the “self-made man?” (verse 16) He boasts that he is in control of his life.

  13. Discussion Guide • Why is such boasting considered evil to God?

  14. Discussion Guide 10. Why did James conclude with (verse 17)? How does it fit in with the previous verses? Because if one knows what to do and how to live then it is a sin not to live according to God’s plan.

  15. Discussion Guide 11. What would you like to accomplish before you die?

  16. Discussion Guide 12. What steps do you need to take?
