  2. What is the National Model? • The National Model for the Statewide Application of Data Collection and Management Technology to Improve Highway Safety. Led and managed by the Iowa DOT since 2001 • Josh Halterman - National Model Program Manager • josh.halterman@iowadot.us • A consortium of 15 states and the province of Manitoba that use the TraCS and MACH software to enable local, state and federal public safety entities to share information • Shared use of common software allows for the establishment of best practices as well as enterprise level software for a minimum cost

"TraCS is considered to be one of the best software platforms in the nation for managing electronic forms associated with traffic stops and crash reports," Arizona DOT Director John Halikowski said.
