  2. King Seabrook Chapel • The Chapel is a 392 seat auditorium with stained glass windows and located at Huston Tillotson College

  3. Executive Summary • One means by which we find and maintain our God connectedness is through worship. Here on the Huston-Tillotson College Campus we gather each Thursday at 11:30am for praise and worship. The Gospel Choir serves as the chapel choir and renders music for most of the worship services. Preachers and Pastors from throughout the city and State of various denominational affiliations are invited to share in the chapel experience. • There are three opportunities to gather with students and study the Word of God. It is a time of fun and fellowship as persons seek to grow through study. • The Gospel Choir performs weekly in Chapel and is often called on to perform at various churches in the Austin community and the surrounding area The Choir meets each Monday evening at 6p.m. for rehearsal. • The Praise Dance Team is comprised of men and women who seek to offer their gift of dance for the glory of God. The group performs in Chapel on occasion and is often called on to perform in the community. • The Council meets weekly to plan and review events for the semester. They generally open the semester with a CMAC Lock-in for the purpose of planning and focusing on the goals for the semester.   • The College Chaplain is Rev. Donald E. Brewington, B.A., M.Div.; he is available for counseling and is there to be of service to you as you journey through your years at Huston-Tillotson.  The Chaplains office is located in King-Seabrook Chapel. 4. King Seabrook Chapel Mission Statement • The purpose of Campus Ministry is to help nurture students in their faith and to aid in the developmental process as we as a College community strive to affect students “Holistically”. We seek to challenge students intellectually, emotionally socially and recreationally; we do that through a variety of means such as retreats, travel opportunities, bible studies, worship services, forums and more.

  5. Description of the Chapel • Religious Life is a vital part of campus life on the Huston-Tillotson College campus. Huston-Tillotson College is a church related institution with affiliation with the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ. The ministry on our campus is ecumenical in nature in that we seek to minister to all students on campus regardless to their denominational affiliation or religious faith. • There are a number of religious groups on campus; we have a Gospel Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and anywhere from two to three bible studies. In an effort to better meet the needs of the broad number of students we have a Student Campus Ministry Advisory Council, the purpose of the Council is to help in the developing of programs that would appeal to the larger student body. • The College Chaplain is Rev. Donald E. Brewington, B.A., M.Div.; he is available for counseling and is there to be of service to you as you journey through your years at Huston-Tillotson. The Chaplains office is located in King-Seabrook Chapel. (Phone:512-505-3054;Email: debrewington@htc.edu)

  6. Current Marketing Situation • If your idea of a chapel is a flat-floor, cottage-sized room with two rows of short, hard pews and an aisle down the middle, with barely enough room at the end for a pulpit and a couple of chairs, you might be taken aback by the one that anchors the south end of the Huston-Tillotson campus. It's a spacious, gracious auditorium with sweeping curves and an altar area large enough to host dozens of choir members or a play with a full-fledged set, which is perhaps the reason the King-Seabrook is a popular site for many a community event, choral concert, and theatre production.
