  2. Definitions • Nucleus- A control center of the cell that contains coded directions for the production of proteins and cell division • Mitochondrion- A membrane-bound organelle that makes energy available to the rest of the cell.

  3. Functions and Location • The nucleus is located in the center of the cell • The mitochondrion is located in the cytoplasm The Mitochondrion makes energy available for the rest of the cell. • The nucleus controls the cell, and is responsible for growth and reproduction.

  4. Factory • In a factory the nucleus would be the boss because the nucleus makes all the decisions of the cell. • The Mitochondrion would be the generators of the factory because of how they make energy for the rest of the cell.
