This program will raise your child's self-esteem, learn self confidence, hand-eye coordination, presentation skills and is great for public speaking. All magic props and supplies will be taken home each week to practice with and keep. Mesmerize your family and friends as you become a Magician! • COOKING FOR CHILDREN: It doesn't matter if you know a little or a lot about cooking! This program is about having fun in the kitchen, trying new foods and learning to create great tasting food that we can EAT together!!! We'll be making food from breakfasts to dinners and everything in between. Cooking is an adventure. Come join the fun! • CHESS (OPEN TO GRADES K THRU 6TH) Chess accommodates different playing levels from Beginners to Intermediate players and covers all the chess pieces, special moves (i.e. castling, en passant), and key chess tactics like Pins, Forks, Double Attacks, Skewers, Discovered Checks, Double Checks, and Deflection. Students learn how to solve checkmate puzzles, basic openings, key defense strategies, and basic end-game techniques. Play chess competitively against other classmates. Classes are for 10 weeks. Some classes like Ceramics and Magic have a supply fee of $3-4/class to cover the additional expense of materials. Parents pay all the fees. The schools are not responsible for any fees. • What are the backgrounds of the instructors? • A: Instructors come from varied backgrounds but all go through extensive interviewing and Choicepoint background checks. They all have expertise in the subjects they are instructing. For example, for Science Wizardry classes, children may have a retired or current science teacher. • When do children go to the enrichment classes? What happens when the class ends? • A:. Children go directly to the enrichment class after school is over. A roster is provided to teachers so that they know how to direct students. Following the enrichment class, children in the school’s after care program are taken to the after school program location by the instructor. Other students will be brought to the front of the school and the instructor remains with the child until they are picked up. Children are never left unattended!
