WHAT DOES STAND FOR? • Odk is the Acronym for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. • The Purpose of The Omicron Delta Kappa Society is Threefold: • -  First, to recognize those who have attained a high standard of efficiency in collegiate activities and to inspire others to strive for conspicuous attainments along similar lines; • -  Second, to bring together the most representative students in all phases of collegiate life and thus to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate interest; • -  Third, to bring together member of the faculty and student body of the institution, as well as other Omicron Delta Kappa members, on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness.

  4. ODK’s Five Major Phases of Campus Life • The Society recognizes achievement in the following five areas: • Scholarship • Athletics • Campus/ Community Service, Social/Religious Activities, and Campus Government • Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media • Creative and Performing Arts

  5. ODK’s Five Indispensable Qualifications  for Membership • Exemplary character • Responsible leadership and service in campus or community life. • Superior scholarship. • Genuine fellowship. • Consecration to democratic ideals.

  6. How do I become a member? • APPLY – The ODK application is now online and available via RowdyLink. Your $25 fee MUST be paid before you apply and the copy of your receipt MUST be included with your online application. • AND • ATTEND EVENTS – Attend 5 ODK events that consist of social, scholarly, and service events; including mandatory Adopt-a-Spot service event. Also attendance to Induction is mandatory.

  7. Membership Requirements: • Attend 5 Events • Adopt-A-Spot – ODK Signature Event (Sep 21st, Oct 19th, Nov 16th) • Service or Scholarly Event • Event of your choice • Event of your choice • Event of your choice *Also Required: - Induction, December 7th, in the University Center Denman Room

  9. Points: The basics • Points are earned at each event you attend.  Points are tallied each semester and DO NOT roll over.  You can earn FREE ODK gear with your points!!!  • HOW DO I EARN POINTS? At each event you attend you will earn at least one (1) point. • General Meeting - 1 pt Social Event - 2 pts • Scholarly Event - 3 pts Service Event - 4 pt* • *Service events are worth 2 points per hour of service, typically service events are at least two hours so most service events state a 4 pt minimum.  If a service event runs longer than 2 hours we will adjust the points accordingly (for example: if we serve at Habitat for Humanity for 3 hours, you will earn 6 points, alternately we occasionally have service for one hour, i.e. the Blood Drive, for this we will award 2 points)  

  10. Points: when do I get my free gear? • Prospective Members - You will receive your gear at Induction (December 7, 2012), along with your Certificate of Membership, Membership Pin, and ODK T-shirt.  You MUST attend Induction to become a Member and to receive your gear.  • Lifetime Members -  Email odk@utsa.edu and we will schedule a time for you to pick up your items the week after inductions.

  11. Points: How many points do I need for free gear? • Fall 2013 gear list: • 10 points - ODK Pen • 15 points - ODK Pen, and ODK Koozie • 20 points - ODK Pen, ODK Koozie, and ODK Decal • 30 points - ODK Pen, ODK Koozie, ODK Decal, and Graduation Cords** • **Graduation Cords can be purchased by any member of ODK from the national website (www.odk.org) once you have been inducted for $16. However if you earn 30 points in a semester we will give them to you for FREE! 

  12. Application fee And dues • - A $25 non-refundable application fee due with my application by the application deadline on September 20th, 2012 by 5pm. • - Upon acceptance into the UTSA Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, there is a one-time $100 membership fee due by Monday, November 26, 2012.
