  1. TAP development, approval timescale and way forward Stephen Sheridan – Scottish Careers and Qualifications Manager

  2. Title goes here Update on TAPs – Where SQA are • Timescales for publishing TAPs in August 2012 have not been met • Issues raised by centres on published TAPs • No Industry Sign off • No guarantees in new timescales for publication being met • Meeting with SQA, SBATC & SPADAC to find solution

  3. What Industry asked for last year Title goes here • Employer Input & sign off of the TAPs to ensure that it is adequately meeting their needs • Phased tests, to improve skills test achievement rates, and to better monitor the progress of apprentices through their skills test. • Distinct Health & Safety training material within the TAPs • As SQA were planning to implement portfolios to supersede the Work Evidence reports we supported the Introduction of CREWS

  4. Update on TAPs – What we need to do Title goes here • Revert back to OLD TAPs where appropriate • Continue with new PDA • Focus on Initial priorities • Listen to centre feedback • Provide centre support

  5. Using the Old TAPs means an opportunity for Title goes here • Proper Consultation on the content of the TAPs. This is to include a formal period of consultation where the views of all centres as well as other interested parties are formally logged and considered. • Prioritise the approval of the Construction Craft Competence Assessment TAPS (Phased Tests). This will include Industry sign off and some testing/piloting early in 2013 to ensure that the tests are at the right level. • An online consultation will start today for all centres and Interested employers • Set up occupational approval groups of EV’s, Writers, Centres and Employers who will meet to approve changes

  6. Immediate priorities for TODAY Title goes here • SQA to provide support to centres addressing potential delivery issues with OLD taps meeting the requirements of new PDAs. This will be done on a subject to subject basis as there are old taps that are no longer required in the new PDA as well as new ones • SQA to satisfy centres concerns over the impact on verification and explain the verification approach • SQA to clarify processes and responsibilities of centres to carry out CREWs. CITB-ConstructionSkills, SBATC and SPADAC can then provide support to employers, apprentices and managing agencies to ensure successful implementation • Feedback from centres on drafts of Phased Tests, how to implement and test them prior to implementation • Explain how centres can log their comments on the TAPs for amendment
