  4. Aims of ecotourism • Aims to build responsible tourism by managing capacity. • Encourages conservation, through the education of both local people and tourists. • Develops a focus on the environment by solving environmental problems and exporting ideas all around the world.

Visitors from the USA and Canada are usually committed environmentalists. • They travel by canoe and have a 2 hour hike to their destination. • Includes walks through the jungle. • Visit community projects. • Quicha are expert guides and train their children, via an ecological training programme. • Money from the tourism has led to major improvements to the services of the village.
