  1. Done by: 1O3 Aloysius Tay (Leader) Andy Andikko Lim Ji Wei 1O2 Tan Zheng Jie Rowell Oxygenated GrowthProject no.: 1-014 + Higher Level of Oxygen

  2. Problem! The world’s population is growing. The demand for food is also rising, yet it is hard to keep up with the demand as even animals have their own limits in growth. So, many farmers are exploring possibilities that involve chemicals to boost the growth of their animals, sometimes using harmful substances. These substances may get into our food and make us ill, so we are trying to use just oxygen to boost the growth of animals, this time chicks so that we can make the chicken produce eggs at an earlier stage of time.

  3. Our aim Our aim for this experimental project is to help farmers increase the number of chicken eggs or speed up the growth rate of the chickens without using any chemicals , but only using oxygen . ( may need permission from SRC for approval to grow chickens for study purposes )

  4. Benefits to the society Our group hopes that our experiment can help this world keep better pace with the global demand for food.

  5. Natural Levels of Oxygen will growth of organisms (more to animals) This will help mainly in farming (chickens etc… ) Arrow denotes increase Our Hypothesis

  6. Photosynthesis What are we doing? Oxygen Use Oxygen obtained to BOOST growth!

  7. Constant Variables Type of animal Amount of food and type of food Light intensity Temperature of surroundings Amount of water given to animal

  8. Independent variables Time frame of each setup.

  9. Put plant in closed transparent box for isolation. • Use lamp to allow it to photosynthesize 24/7. How are we going to carry out our experiment? ( experimental setup ) “closed box” (Transparent) Plant to increase oxygen level in the box Animal to test hypothesis

  10. How are we going to carry out our experiment? (control setup ) • Put a chick same as the one in the Experimental setup . • Also give it the same amount and type of food . • Oxygen level of the control setup should be lower than in the experimental setup . • Place it under the same type of lamp at equal distances away from each setup . Open air Animal to test hypothesis

  11. Type of Plant • We are planning to use money plant for our project . • It is known for producing large amounts of oxygen . • It is also easy to be grown and has small green leaves . • For the reliability of the experiment we may use hydroponics .

  12. How are we going to measure results? Measure percentage growth/increase in mass of animal( in this case chicks) Need to use a electronic balance for measurements of mass of the chick.

  13. How the graph and its axis looks like. Percentage Increase in mass (%) Time (days)

  14. Explanation of the graph We would plot the graph after we have the data. We would have 3 experimental setup and 3 control setup. To make our experiment more accurate , we would be measuring the percentage increase of mass of the chicks.
