  5. What’s New? • New classroom location – near front office • Gifted will be occurring at the high school level beginning next year. More information to follow; St. Petersburg Collegiate High School in conjunction with St. Pete College;

  6. Projects & Homework • Two projects yearly Make the World a Better Place – December Oceanography Project – May Homework Weekly except for the month before projects are due (November & April)

  7. Guest Speakers • Sept. 22nd – Ms. Judy Galbraith – by reservation only • Feb. 13th – Joyce Van Tassel-Baska, Professor Emeritus, College of William & Mary • Feb. 24th Rachel McAnallen, Ed. (Ph.D)

  11. Important Things to Consider • Don’t confuse academic challenge with intellectual stimulus. We all crave intellectual stimulation. • Your child is not in our class because they are required to be there; this makes it important for us to provide a stimulating learning environment. • It takes longer to include creativity, but it’s worth the time. • “If it is not expressed in figures, it is not science, it is opinion.”

  12. Gifted Students – Some Thoughts • We honor the gift in EVERY child! • It is not who is gifted, but what gift we will develop?
