  2. Organize the provision ofpublic utilities for residents: water supply and sewerage; supply of heat; collection, conducting and purification of waste water; management of municipal waste. Public services of Ogre countycouncil (1)

  3. Public utilities and waste management • Municipal agency “Malkalne” is providing public utilities in all Ogre county territory; • Municipal agency provideswater supply and collection of waste water to 75% of population in Ogre town; • In Ogre county are working three enterprises in waste collection; • Waste recycling infrastructure is in development stage and in this year funding for environment protection in county has raised to 298%.

  4. Public services of Ogre countycouncil (2) • sanitary cleanliness of administrative territory: • building, reconstruction and maintenance of streets, roads and public squares; • lighting of streets, public squares and other areas designated for public use; • development and maintenance of parks, public squares and green zones; • control of collection and removal of waste; • flood control measures; • establishment and maintenance of cemeteries and places for burial of dead animals.

  5. Infrastructure of road and street network • One of the main transit traffic routes is going through Ogre county; • 80% of all pollution is created by traffic flow; • High traffic intensity and every year amount of cars increase for about 10% of all registered cars in county; • Street length in urban area is 100 km and road length in rural area – 105 km; • In 2007, municipality funding for street and road network has grown five times.

  6. Public services of Ogre countycouncil (3) • Provision ofeducation forlocal residents: • ensuring the specified rights of residents to acquire primary and general secondary education; • ensuring children of pre-school and school age with places in training and educational institutions; • organisational and financial assistance to out of school training and educational institutions and education support institutions.

  7. Educationinstitutions in Ogre county • 7 kindergartens, • 6 comprehensive schools (Ogre Secondary School Nr.1, Ogre Grammar School, Jaunogre Secondary School, Ogre Primary School, Ogresgals Primary School, Ogre Evening School), • 3 institutions of vocational training (Ogre Professional Secondary school, Ogre Handicraft Secondary school, Ogre Forest Technical Secondary School), • establishments of interest education (Ogre Art School, Ogre Music School, Ogre Children and Youth Centre, Youth Health Centre), • institutions of adult education, • Ogre Central Library.
