Horticulture Issues – 2007-08 Plantations • Adjustment of advances – Progress as per field performance not reflected on web • Poor MIP installation – reflects on survival. • Watering arrangements under dry land horticulture. • All tasks to be completed for I yr before including for II yr maintenance • Record maintenance • Training to farmers and Paraworkers • CIG-group dynamics and transparency in transactions. • FA & TA not monitoring • Review TA and FA by MPDOs & APOs – Monday meetings • Field inspections – Survival • Technical trainings and Guidance to farmers atleast once in a quater through Horticulture Officers, MIP Area Coordinators, Plantation Managers and Supervisors.

Fruit crops • Custard apple • Acid lime • Guava bOil yielding trees (coastal districts) • Coconut • Oil palm Pulpwood plantations • Eucalyptus • Subabul • Casuarina (coastal districts) Others • Rubber(only ITDA Rampachodavaram) (Convergence with ongoing Govt. programmes-NHM, APMIP, Oil palm mission, Rubber Board etc.)

  5. 2008-09 Plantations(cont…) Salient features • Non-negotiables, criteria for selection of farmers and other principles - instructions issued earlier for 4 crops holds good • Plant material tie up - Priority to Government nurseries • Detailed instructions issued with nursery wise plant material available ,tie up and to be procured from private nurseries • Private nurseries after exhausting from Govt. nurseries • Follow norms already given for plant material procurement • Pulp wood and Oil Palm plantation - firm advance tie up for marketing should be made before taking up the plantation. Plantation shall be taken up only in blocks, each block not less than 50 acres. • Pulp wood plantation shall be encouraged only in dry lands.
