  1. Please read with me from Hebrews 12:18-28

  2. “You have come to Mount Zion” • Mount Zion = The Lord’s Church • Church = Unshaken Kingdom • Unshaken- “not liable to disorder or overthrow; firm, stable.” • Luke 6:48 “dug deep & laid the foundation on the rock…could not shake it…”

  3. Material Creation Will Be Shaken • Lord’s Church / Kingdom Cannot Be Shaken • Luke 1:30-33 “of His kingdom there shall be no end.” • Many want to change the church – want to “restructure the church.” • Say the church of the 1st Century cannot meet today’s needs.

  4. The Church both Human & Divine • It is God’s soul-saving institution, divine in concept, nature & purpose • It is made up of human beings • A Divine side & a Human side • On the divine side, absolute, ultimate perfection • Any imperfection is on the human side

  5. The Church both Human & Divine • Human Beings, which make up the church, can be changed • From Better to Worse, or From Worse to Better • On the Divine side there can be no change • Head – Colossians 1:18 • Authority- Matthew 28:18 • Foundation – 1 Corinthians 3:11 • Message – Galatians 1:6-10

  6. The Church in God’s Eternal Plan • Ephesians 3:10,11 “wisdom of God made known by the church…according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” • Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church” • To be built upon “Jesus the Christ” • Isaiah 28:16 “I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;”

  7. “Kingdom that can not be shaken” • Hebrews 12:22-24 • Daniel Chapter 2 • Vs.44 “in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set a kingdom which shall never be destroyed…” • In the “days of those kings,” the Lord’s church was established – Acts Chapter 2 • And it shall stand forever!

  8. Daniel 7:13,14 • Saw the “Son of man” ascend on the wings of the clouds of heaven • Brought Him to the “Ancient of Days” which is God • Given to Him Dominion, glory & a kingdom” • Kingdom an everlasting dominion, not pass away, never be destroyed.

  9. Victorious Church in Revelation • Revelation 6:9-11 • Here seems to be a sense of defeat • Revelation Chapter 20 – same souls, removed from underneath the altar, sitting “on thrones.” Victory! • Chapters 5-11 ongoing battle between the world & the church • Chapters 12-20 emphasis on battle between Christ & Satan

  10. Victorious Church in Revelation • Revelation 19:11-16 • Rider on white horse is Christ • Horse may be the New Testament church & White is the symbol of victory • The Beast & kings of the earth gather to make war against Him that sat on the white horse and against His army

  11. Victorious Church in Revelation • Revelation 19:19,20 • Only the dragon (Satan) was left & he was finally “cast into the lake of fire & brimstone.” (Revelation 20:10) • Revelation 20:11-15 • “The Great White Throne” scene, clearly a picture of a judgment scene

  12. Victorious Church in Revelation • Revelation 21:1,2 “New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” • Revelation 21:3-7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things…” • “There is marvelous Victory in Jesus!”

  13. Romans 8:35-39 • “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
