  2. What is “Marking Text?” • A strategy to help you understand what you’re reading. • A way to interact with what you’re reading. • An opportunity for you to connect to what you’re reading.

  3. Things you might ‘mark’ as you read: 1. PC= personal connection to what you’re reading. 2. ?= a question you might have for the author or characters you are reading about. 3. Underline= underlining words you don’t know the meaning of.

  4. How do I mark them? If the book belongs to you, you can use whatever you want! I recommend using a pencil or a highlighter.

  5. But Miss Neff! This book isn’t mine! That’s why I have these things for you to use: Disclaimer: Do NOT write in a book that does not belong to you.
