Al Fikra Qatar National Business Plan Competition 2013 Is a business plan competition specifically designed for entrepreneurs and students enabling them to deliver business plans as a basis to establish new and successful private businesses Al Fikra 2012 was held by Enterprise Qatar and Carnegie Mellon University and attracted more than 230 applicants The competition will run over 3months (Jan 23rd 2013 – Apr 25th 2013) Creative and innovative ideas will be recognized and supported by Enterprise Qatar through different stages of development including: • Learning & Development Services • Business Support Services

The MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition in partnership with ALJ Community Initiatives • The MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition in partnership with Abdul LatifJameel Community Initiatives was launched in 2006 in view of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation and spurring job creation across the Arab world www.mitarabcompetition.com • The Competition, in its new format, caters for entrepreneurs with just ideas (Ideas Track) as well as entrepreneurs generating revenues and looking to take their business to the next level (Startups Track). Besides cash prizes, the Competition provide support to Arab entrepreneurs through: • Top-tier training led by MIT Professors on April 23-24, 2013 • Coaching by experts in the field • Networking opportunities • Exploring further funding opportunities • Regional and international exposure through the strong network of the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan-Arab. • The Competition has been receiving each year around 4,000 applications from 21 countries, has trained over 900 entrepreneurs and has helped start more than 200 knowledge-based and technology-driven companies in Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Tunisia and others. • The Final Award Ceremony of this year’s Competition is taking place, for the first time, in Doha on April 25, 2013. Awards 50,000 QAR 30,000 QAR • Winning teams will also be offered packages which encompass incubation and subsidized Enterprise Qatar services. • 20 shortlisted entrepreneurs will be nominated by 31st March 2013, to join the MITEF semi-finalists workshop on the 23rd and 24th of April 2013 • 4 winning teams from the Al Fikra finalists will have the opportunity to join MITEF finalists to compete alongside 10 shortlisted teams for a chance to win a lifetime opportunity on 25th April 2013. 1 2
