  2. About us! We’re Mrs. K.’s fifth grade class at Bowen Elementary in Kentwood, Michigan Michigan in USA Kentwood in MI * We live in the lower peninsula *

  3. Hypothesis In the pond at East Paris Nature Park in Kentwood Michigan, we will find 50% of the same organisms of macro-invertebrates in our fresh water pond as other students find in their fresh water ponds all over the country and world.

  4. What we found What and when it happened. May 22, 2013 10:00 am to 12:30 pm It started out a rainy day. The air was moist and the grass was wet and the pond was active with wildlife. While setting out buckets, the set up crew saw ducks and ducklings, geese and goslings, 2 blue herons, a bunny, and several birds including red-wing blackbirds and robins. We also observed some fish in the pond. We set out buckets at intervals around the pond with our science materials including magnifying glasses, water collectors, a Brock microscope, Petri dishes, tweezers, paper, pencils, etc. We broke into groups just as it started to rain so we ate lunch first under the pavilion. Then, in our groups, we set out to discover just what macro-invertebrates were in our pond. The results are on the next slide. We spent about 2 ½ hours at the pond but had to cut our day short due to severe weather.

  5. Results Macro-invertebrate # found After comparing and contrasting with other schools’ information, we will write our conclusion.

  6. We had so much fun!!! Thank you !
