  2. Introduction • There are many responsibilities involved in being a UniServ Director. One of the major job duties involve organizing your UniServ and locals. As a result, NEA Member Benefits can assist you through this process. Some examples of organizing the NEA Member Benefits can assist with include: • Year Round and Monthly Calendar membership planning • Community Outreach • Working with constituency groups • Bargaining Support

  4. Year Round Calendar • June & July: • Increasing and maintaining membership is critical for the continued success of our Association. Summer is the ideal time to begin preparing for your membership campaign. To ensure a successful campaign, a plan should be designed in June or July.

Year Round Calendar Examples • June & July: • NEA MB Training • Send out Association Representative appreciation gift with a reminder to recruit • Send a letter of introduction to all new hires • Summer leadership conference, invite NEA MB to provide training and to host a booth • SPARKS training • Local AR Training • Include NEA MB program material in membership packages • Get membership committee organized for the upcoming membership year • E-mail to personal e-mail addresses of members with “Back To School” ideas • Conduct a summer training for those who are interested in becoming recruiters • Send a welcome or welcome back letter from the Association • Prepare for new hire event • New employee activity

Year Round Calendar • August: • As summerdraws to a close and the inevitable back-to-school routine looms large, new employee orientation events become a logical venue for membership recruitment. NEA Member Benefits can help meet the more immediate needs of members who may be fresh out of school or new to the area.

Year Round Calendar • September: • According to financial planning experts, October is traditionally an important month for financial planning as many members have rollover accounts maturing or are considering other year-end investment decisions or purchases. So September is the perfect month to tell your members about the benefits of NEA Financial Services Programs.

  18. Year Round Calendar • January • Now that the holidays are over, NEA members may have accrued some larger-than-usual bills as a result of the season’s festivities. NEA Member Benefits offers the NEA Personal Loan, the NEA Home Financing Program and the NEA National Board Certification Loan to help NEA members better manage their finances. With the NEA Personal Loan, NEA members may obtain funds ($3,000 to $25,000) at low member-only rates. Repayment terms are flexible; members can take up to 84 months to repay, with no pre-payment penalties. • The NEA Home Financing Program has a variety of home equity loans and lines of credit that can help NEA members who own a home consolidate debt and reduce monthly payments.
