  2. Background • Program established by the Mexican since more than 5 years. • The program was initially though as “trusted importer”. • There are about 900 companies currently registered in the program.

  3. Eligibility / Benefits • 12 different options (by industries or type of companies) to qualify for the program. • 21 “generic” benefits. • 27 additional benefits for IMMEX entities.

  4. Benefits for IMMEX companies • Companies in the electronic sector may not include the serial number of goods in the pedimento or invoice, as long as the information is included in the automated inventory control system. • Option to rectify the declaration up to three times when such rectification results in a favorable balance.

  5. Benefits for IMMEX companies • No payment of duties under NAFTA 303 upon the export of labels, manuals and brochures to the US or Canada. • Option to apply PROSEC’s when changing the customs regime of goods, provided that the importer has a PROSEC registration.

  6. Benefits for IMMEX companies • Flexibility on the application of PROSEC duty rates when the imported materials are classified in more than one sector of PROSEC. • Deliver goods manufactured under the IMMEX program to Mexican residents that do not operate as an IMMEX, by means of virtual pedimentos (without physical exportation from Mexico.

  7. Benefits for IMMEX companies • Right to pay duties on non-declared goods, even during an audit, provided that the goods do not exceed USD$15,000 or 20% of the value of the operation. • Right to rectify the tariff classification item number of goods. • Waiver of certain information for submaquila operations.

  8. Benefits for IMMEX companies • Under certain conditions, rectify to increase the number of pieces, volume and other information to quantify goods. • Goods can remain in the country for up to 36 months.

  9. Requirements • MXN$200,000,000 in imports in the past semester. • Provide corporate documents. • Audited financial statements • Other requirements. • If the requirements are not met, then there is an option to ask the CNIME for a report.

  11. CNIME Report • Have at least 100 employees registered with the IMSS (unless the company has 10 million dollars in assets). • Have machinery and equipment with a value of USD$250,000 • Allow the inspection from CNIME. • Provide documentation to CNIME.

  12. CNIME Report • Report takes about 3 to 4 months. • Need to inspect the facilities. • Report is authorized by an Reporting Committee. • Provide documentation to CNIME.
