  2. Vocabulary words Crucible - any life altering event, positive or negative, that changes your view of the world. Adaptive capacity - your ability to take that event and learn and grow in a positive way.

  3. Part 1: Choose Your Thoughts 3 Major Influences: Newspapers Television Other people

  4. Actions: 1. Change your interpretation of facts. • “Our experiences are much less important than how we choose to think about them.”

  7. Actions: 3. Create your own mental space. • Turn off your car radio. • Turn off your crackberry, cell phone, television, etc. • Go for a walk. • Spend some quiet time in nature. • Apply the 20/80 rule to listening. • Rest your mind!

  8. Part 2: Choose Your Words • It’s not what you say, but what you repeatedly say. Action: Make a language shift. • Talk yourself up. • Speak with strength. • Ask the right questions.

  9. Part 3: Choose Your Actions You cannot always control your feelings, but you can control your words and your actions. Action: Make a behavior shift. Change your reference group. Start an attitude crusade at your home or office.
