  1. My Life Monday Safety wear Personal Protective Equipment or PPE is designed to protect employees from injuries resulting from contact with chemicals, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment or other work place hazards. Examples of PPE include safety goggles, hard hats, work boots and gloves. Apart from PPE requirements for a job, employees must remember to inspect the equipment before use and to replace worn out equipment.

  2. Get proper training! Make sure you get proper training on how to use the equipment. If you’re facing problems, inform your supervisor or manager about it! • You need to know.. • how to use PPE properly • when PPE is necessary • what kind of PPE is necessary • the limitations of the protective gear in use • that PPE should be worn at all times during a job • requiring PPE • that PPE should be checked and kept clean • on a regular basis

  3. Safety equipment is made for a reason Choosing the right PPE is the first step towards ensuring your safety, but that’s not all. You have to maintain it as well!! ? You should also find out the hazards of your job, including the safety procedures and processes used to prevent injuries.

Caring for your PPE Caring for your PPE is as important as selecting the right equipment. • Let’s start from the top. • Your hard hat protects your head. • Hard hats are designed to protect your head from falling objects or when you lose balance and fall. • Always check if the inside straps • work and fit properly. • 2. Check for cracks or weakness. • 3. Wipe it with a damp rag before use.

What comes next? • Eyewear protection is a must. • A minor eye injury can be serious! • Make sure your glasses, goggles or shield fit. • Check if its clean and not broken, cracked or • scratched. • You might suffer of a hearing loss. • Protect your ears from excessive • exposure to noise. • For sanitary reasons, use disposable ear • plugs. • 2. Re-usable earplugs, canal caps and ear • muffs should be cleaned on a regular basis.

What comes next? • Protect your helpers-your hands! • Protect your hands from injuries! • Use the right gloves for the job you are performing. • Make sure your gloves are in good shape and not ripped or torn. • Match the footwear to the job. • Most foot injuries are caused by objects falling on unprotected feet or the foot wear was not appropriate for the job. • Check your footwear and make sure it fits. • Select the right footwear for the job.
