Highlight of Current Activities(1/6)-Tenure-Change Election • Council election at expiration of office terms • Mr. Hequan WU was elected as Chairman of the Council during the First Meeting of the 3rd Session's Council in the December, 2010. • Mr. Zemin YANG was elected as Vice Chairman of the Council and the secretary-general. • Re-election of Chairmen of Technical Committees • The Chairmen of TC1, TC3,TC4,TC5,TC6,TC7,TC8 andTC9 were re-elected during the 9th General Assembly in the December, 2010.

Highlight of Current Activities (2/6)-Standards Projects Progress • 262 standards were published in 2010 • 17 National Standards (GB) • 204 Industry Standards (YDT/YDC) • 14 Technical Reports (YDB) • 27 Research Projects • 256 standards were published by the end of October, 2011 • 22 National Standards (GB) • 190 Industry Standards (YDT/YDC) • 18 Technical Reports (YDB) • 26 Research Projects

Highlight of Current Activities (3/6)-Establishment of TC11(1/2) • Mobile Internet Application and Terminal Technical Committee (TC11) was established on December 27, 2010. • Scope of TC11 • Terminology definition, demands, architecture, protocol and security of mobile internet application; • The ability, software & hardware, interface, integration, universality of various forms of terminals, terminal peripheral component and terminal security. • Liaison with ITU-T SG12, IETF, OMA, WAC, W3C, 3GPP, 3GPP2, GSMA, etc.

  6. Highlight of Current Activities (4/6)-Establishment of TC11(2/2) • 67 members and 12 observers; • Examples of Projects undertaken in TC11 • Smart terminal; • Application software store; • Mobile reading; • Mobile education; • Location

Highlight of Current Activities (5/6)-M2M (1/2) • Establishment of Ubiquitous Networks Industry Technology and Development Forum, which is affiliated to CCSA. • Information exchange; • Technology development; • Industry Promotion. • Cooperation with verticals • MoU with TC ITS in 2011; • Cooperation with other industries such as agriculture, logistics, colliery, Safety, medical treatment, environmental protection etc.

Highlight of Current Activities (6/6)-M2M (2/2) • M2M Workshops and Seminars • Conference of M2M Application and Standards, China; • Other workshops or seminars on M2M technologies, application and standards; • the Conference has been held twice since 2010 and will be held annually; • co-organized by CCSA, CIE and the municipal government of Nanjing City; • supported by MIIT and the municipal government of Jiangsu Province ; • more than 1,000 participants from various industries; • several panels on M2M industrialization, Market forecast, M2M and eCity, M2M standardization etc.

Strategic Direction • Convergence of networks will be a general trend even though it may be full of frustrations. • Terminals will be integrated, smart and service-oriented. • Application in private networks (verticals) will be a new point of growth for ICT industry. So the cooperation with verticals will be essential. • Hot areas • M2M • Next Generation Internet and Mobile Internet • Smart service and terminal • IMT-advanced • Green ICT • Cloud Computing

Challenges • Convergence of Services and Technologies • FMC; • Telecommunication network/Internet; • Telecommunication/Broadcasting; • Smart terminals and various applications put forward higher requirements on network capability, security and service-oriented solutions based on user’s requirements. • Cooperation with verticals and balance of the interests of the parties;

Next Steps / Actions • To explore reciprocal methods of cooperation with verticals; • To create more opportunity for medium and small-sized enterprises, especially IT companies to join CCSA; • To pay close attention to the studies on hot technologies such as: • M2M • Next Generation Internet and Mobile Internet • Smart service and terminal • IMT-advanced • Green ICT • Cloud Computing • To continue to strengthen international technical exchange and cooperation.
