  2. Muscles of Abdominal Wall • Linea Alba: band of tough connective tissue that extends from xiphoid process to symphysis pubis. • Contraction decreases size of ab. Cavity and increases pressure inside. • Aid in: • Forcing air out of lungs • Defecation • Urination • Vomiting • childbirth

  3. Muscles of Ab Wall • Include: • External oblique • Internal oblique • Transversusabdominis • Rectus abdominis

  4. Muscles of Pelvic Outlet • Two muscular Sheets • Pelvic diaphragm • Forms the floor of pelvic cavity • Urogenital diaphragm • Fills space within the pubic arch

  5. Pelvic Outlet (males and females) • Include: • Pelvic Diaphragm • Levatorani • Urogenital diaphragm • Superficial transversusperinei, Bulbospongiosus, Ischiocavernosus

  6. Muscles that move the Thigh • Anterior and Posterior groups • Anterior: primarily flex thigh • Posterior: proimarily extend, abduct, or rotate thigh • Include: • Anterior group: Other Group: • Psoas major *Adductor longus • Iliacus *Adductor magnus • Posterior group *Gracilis • Gluteus maximus • Gluteus medius • Gluteus minimus • Tenros fasciae latae
