  10. WirelessNear-term growth is expected from 2.5G deployment and continued 3G R&D investment. Longer-term growth will be fueled by 3G and mass adoption of data applications and services. Market Megatrends WirelineGrowth will come from reducing cost per managed bit and reducing bottlenecks in METRO, EDGE and access - VSR, 10GB, and high speed routing. Core network investments are largely in R&D, but will move back into manufacturing in ‘03 and ‘04. General Purpose Emerging technologies such as WLAN, 3GIO, Bluetooth, and SAN continue to provide new and ongoing growth as does the adoption of advanced electronics and embedded computing across many markets.
