  2. FSDOE: STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE • Departmental Strategic Objective: “ To provide Learners and Educators with basic Learning, Teaching and Support Material (LTSM) in accordance with Curriculum needs”

  3. Measurable objective “LTSM delivered to all Section 20 Schools by 30 November 2005”

  4. ACTION PLAN • STEP 1 • Curriculum Delivery and Support • Screening of books • Compiling and approval of the catalogue. • Compiling of a Catalogue for Languages has been allocated to different Provinces and will be available by 30 May 2005 • TIME FRAME: 1 April 2005 STATUS: Catalogue for all subjects except languages will be available by middle of March.

  5. ACTION PLAN: • STEP 2 • Supply Chain Management • Appoint Service Provider to print the approved catalogue for the total number of schools • Sign Service Level Agreements with Suppliers TIME FRAME: 8 April – 27 April CHALLENGES: Service Provider not meeting the dead line

  6. STEP: 3 Supply Chain Management and Districts Send catalogue to schools via Districts TIME FRAME: 28 April – 2 May 2005

  7. Step 4: Schools Complete Requisitions District Directors’ and Principals’ Catalogues distributed to all Section 20 and 21 Schools by District Office. Schools complete requisitions. Exhibitions conducted by Curriculum Development and Support. TIME FRAME: 3 May 2005 – 30 May

  8. STEP 5 : CAPTURING ON EMIS • Supply Chain Management and ICT and IRRISS • Capturing of requisitions on EMIS • EMIS generates: • Packing list • Order list • TIME FRAME: 6 June – 23 June 2005

  9. STEP 6: CAPTURING ON LOGIS-ON LINE • Supply Chain Management • Verification of EMIS generated Reports • Capture and requisitions on Logis on-line • Generate and Print system generated orders • Verification of orders • TIME FRAME: 24 June – 5 August 2005 • CHALLENGES: Systemic problems( BAS being slow)

STEP 7:ISSUEING OF ORDERS TO PUBLISHERS,STATIONERYSUPPLIERS AND DISTRIBUTORS Supply Chain Management Contract for Stationery Suppliers and Distributors is running until the 31 November 2007 A meeting will be convened with Publishers , Stationery Suppliers and Distributors to issue orders Sign Service Level Agreements

  11. STEP 8: WAREHOUSING • Supply Chain Management • Recruitment and appointment of staff • Training of staff • Securing 12 Warehouses in for 5 Districts • signing of SLA • Appoint Audit Firms • Opening of Warehouses • TIME FRAME: 4 July – 15 August 2005

  12. STEP 9: WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS • Receiving of LTSM and Stationery at Warehouses • Packing • Dispatching( Distribution to schools) • TIME FRAME: 1 September – 31 November 2005 • CHALLENGES: • Late deliveries by Publishers and Stationery Suppliers

  13. STEP 10: PAYMENTS OF PUBLISHERS,STATIONERY SUPPLIERS AND DISTRIBUTORS SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND FINANCE Process payments TIME FRAME: 1 October – 5 December 2005 CHALLENGES: Systemic problems( delays due to BAS)

  14. CONCLUSION • Having supplied LTSM successfully and in time for 2005, we foresee no problems for the coming year.We can only improve.
