    2. In 2007, there was about half (49%) of the population lived in public rental (30.7%) or subsidized sale flats (such as HOS, PRH units sold to tenants). Downturn of the property market, the production of residential flats have been decreasing since 2002. The production of new public rental housing remained at a relatively low level as well. Among the 2.2 million domestic households, about 680,000 (or 30.4%) lived in public rental housing (PRH), 16.4% in subsidized sale flats. Right now, there are 107,000 applicants on the waiting list of PRH (it was 145,000) ten years ago.
