China • Following WWI, there was unrest in China • Two leaders emerged: Jiang Jieshi (Chiang Kai-Shek-Guomingdang Nationalist and Mao Zedong-Communist) a civil war took place • Mao led 100,000 Communist on a 6,000 mile walk (The Long March) to find a safe place for Chinese Communists. Only 8,000 survived but Communism was strengthened.

  3. India • 800,000 Indians served in WWI fighting for the British. • Upon returning home they found they did not gain new rights or independence for their service. • A large crowd of peaceful demonstrators were attacked by British soldiers (400 died)= Amritsar Massacre
