  1. Cal State East Bay 2012-13 Operating Budget Extended Cabinet Presentation May 31, 2012

  2. 2012-2013 Budget Planning • Budget Schedule • Trustees Budget Request Published November 2011 • Governor’s Budget Published January 2012 • Revised Revenue Estimates (“May Revise”) May 14, 2012 • Final Budget Approved June 30, 2012 • Campus Consultation • November, February, May, and July • Cabinet • University Planning, Assessment and Budget Committee • Academic Senate (COBRA) • Associated Students, Inc. • Systemwide Budget Advisory Committee Video Conference

  3. 2011-2012 Mid Year Adjustment • 2011-12 Budget Act included an additional $100M CSU budget cut if state revenues fell short of assumptions—they did • Additional reduction for CSUEB was $3,760,500 • Plans were in place to accommodate the adjustment without affecting current year allocations • However, base budget for 2012-13 will be affected

  4. 2012-2013 “Trigger” • Governor’s Budget assumed tax initiative will pass in November, avoiding additional cuts • However, the Governor’s Budget includes a minimum reduction “trigger” of $200M if the initiative fails • The Department of Finance released lower revenue estimates on May 14 (“May Revise”) that increased the Governor’s Budget trigger estimate • The “trigger” cut will now reduce the CSU budget by an additional $250M • Reduction for CSUEB estimated to be $8,905,000
