Major Components • Plants take up lots of CO2 but release it when they die • Animals release CO2 when we breathe • Waste is considered a sink • Fossil Fuels were once long term sinks but are now major sources do to human consumption • Oceans deeper waters hold Carbon for a long period of time while shallow surface water would be a source due to the exchanges with other compounds
