  1. Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Raghavan ….. A Tribute Sat, 11 Aug 2007 PS High School Auditorium Chennai

  2. Viji – An unique personality… Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Raghavan • Viji to her friends, • Viji Mam to her students, and • Amma to her Aashram Inmates… Was certainly not a CELEBRITY in the normal sense of the word…..

  3. Viji – what made her different? • She did learn music, but was not a leading classical singer… • She had histrionic talents, but did not act in movies or TV serials… • She had keen interests in sports, but seldom participated in any major events… • She was NOT in politics or such active public life… Then, what made her so special to all of us here ?

  4. Viji – a normal child, girl and lady.. • Gifted daughter of Dr. Moorthi – Dr. Meera, born 31 May 1953, at Coimbatore… • Convent educated, schooling at Govt. Training School, BA / MA English literature at Krishnammal College, Coimbatore… • Happily married Dr. A Raghavan, moving on to Chennai to take up her job at Max Mueller Bhavan.. An absolutely smooth-sailing, mid-class but high quality lifestyle, right from childhood.. Then, what made her different ?

  5. Viji – the working housewife… • Balanced professional work with home responsibilities... • Served MMB 25 years 25 days, active till end, loved by every student, providing assistance during as well as after every program, always a special personal touch… • A caring wife, loving aunt, dutiful daughter, affectionate sister…. …Left nothing unturned to keep all members of her family happy…

  6. Viji – Comfort Vs Care… • Like several other working women, Viji had all comforts at home front, had certainly the most-adopted option of just being “self and family”… • But.. being selfless was her nature, caring for all beings and even for the uncared animals, always searching for avenues to be of help to fellow beings… • And above all, taking care of the perfect balancing act amongst family, professional and social activities…

  7. Parasparam – An unique mix of inmates.. • No caste, no creed – truly secular, Semi-orphaned girls, whom Viji felt deserved a special attention… • Basic provision of shelter, food and attire … • Access to education, entertainment, work and play to one and all… • Separate shelters for cats and dogs, with children taking pride in caring for them… • Parasparam – Mutual – Love for one and all…

  8. Viji – moving Parasparam forward • Higher education for senior inmates… • Gainful employment for qualified inmates… • Marriages for safely settling in life, post-Parasparam… • Inculcating secularism – a shrine for Shirdi Sai Baba… • Increasing number of inmates – moving to higher levels with alternate self-sustaining activities… All this, and may be more in her dreams, have now come to a sudden halt … to be carried forward by us…
