  2. Rana Sanga was a powerful Rajput king who ruled the kingdom of Mewar in present- day Rajasthan, India, from 1509 to 1527. He was known for his military prowess and strategic acumen, which helped him to resist the advances of the Mughal Empire and maintain the independence of his kingdom. Rana Sanga was born in 1482 in Ranthambore, a city located in present-day Rajasthan. He belonged to the Sisodia clan, which was one of the most powerful Rajput clans in the region. His father, Rana Raimal, was the ruler of Mewar at the time of his birth. Rana Sanga was trained in the art of warfare and administration from a young age and was recognized as a skilled warrior and leader. Rana Sanga ascended to the throne of Mewar in 1509, following the death of his father. He faced many challenges in the early years of his reign, including a rebellion by his own brother, who was supported by neighboring kingdoms. Rana Sanga quelled the rebellion and consolidated his power by defeating his rivals in battle. Rana Sanga's most significant challenge came from the expanding Mughal Empire, which was led by Babur. Babur had invaded India in 1526 and had defeated the Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi, in the Battle of Panipat. Babur had established a foothold in northern India and was keen to expand his empire further. Rana Sanga saw Babur's expansion as a threat to his kingdom and formed an alliance with other Rajput rulers to resist the Mughal advance. In 1527, Rana Sanga led a coalition of Rajput forces against Babur in the Battle of Khanwa. The battle was fierce, and Rana Sanga's forces initially gained the upper hand, but Babur's superior artillery and tactics turned the tide of the battle. Rana Sanga was seriously wounded in the battle and had to retreat from the field. Although Rana Sanga survived the battle, he was weakened by his injuries and was unable to continue his resistance against the Mughals. Babur went on to conquer large parts of northern India, including Delhi, Agra, and the surrounding regions. Rana Sanga is remembered as a brave and heroic figure in Rajput history. He is seen as a symbol of Rajput resistance against foreign invaders and a defender of the honor and sovereignty of his kingdom. Even though he was not able to stop the Mughal
