  3. Why are people in Syria killing each other? • Started in April 2011 • Peaceful revolutions challenged dictatorship • Gov’t responded…viciously • Civilians retaliated • Wanted democracy and more freedom • Demanded that president Bashar al-Assad resign

  4. Chemical weapons • Recently killed 1,000 people • Possibility for rebuttal from US. • “No boots on the ground” • France and UK involvement

Your assignment… • For Friday, instead of doing a CE summary/reaction, you will need to write a debate response. • Should the US use a military intervention to stop the violence in Syria? • You will need to choose an article from http://www.usnews.com/debate-club/should-the-us-intervene-in-syria-with-military-action

  6. Using an argument of your choice, you will write your own perspective using evidence from the argument you chose. • You will need to read the argument and find evidence throughout to cite within your own 10-sentence argument.
