  1. Miller’s Monday Mornings New League Format Proposal 8/15/2012

  2. General Overview • At the end of each season, each manager will be allotted 3 contracts to assign to players that are on their final roster • Each manager will be able to assign a 1 yr contract, a 2 yr contract and a 3 yr contract • ie: a 3 year contract given to a player at the end of the 2012 season, will take that player through the 2015 season. A player signed to a 1 year contract at the end of 2012, will be contracted to that manager through the 2013 season • A manager is not required to use all 3 contracts • ie: if a manager does not think they have 3 players that are worthy of a contract, that manager does not have to use those contracts • At the end of each season all managers will be allotted these 3 contracts to assign to players on their rosters. • A player may only be ‘re-signed’ to a contract only once • Once a players contract is up, the manager has the option to re-sign that player to a contract extention • A manager that is re-signing a player must use one of their allotted contracts that they receive at the end of each season

  3. How will the 2012 Draft Work? • All Managers will keep 2 players from their 2011 roster • We will draft teams as we have in the past (draft order to be assigned according to the previous season finish) • Only Difference From Previous Drafts: YOU WILL BE DRAFTING PLAYERS THAT YOU WILL POTENTIALLY BE SIGING TO A CONTRACT AT THE END OF THE SEASON

  4. How will the 2012 Season Work? • Season will be played much like all of our past seasons have played. This new Format really won’t take hold much until the end of the 2012 season • Waiver Wire • We will be having an Auction Type system for all Waiver Wire players • Waiver Wire will be locked from Sunday to Tuesday • Managers will be able to bid on the Waiver Wire players from Sunday to Tuesday • Manager who bids the highest amount on the Waiver Wire player wins that player • Each Manager will start out with a 100$ bank roll for the Waiver Wire auctioning (this is not real money, but rather ‘fantasy’ money with sole purpose for the Waiver Wire Auction) • The 100 dollars will not re-up each week, 100$ is all you have for the entire year • This is set up through Yahoo, and all bids are silent. You can only bid once on each player (meaning, your first bid for a waiver wire needs to be a winning bid, there are no counter bids if someone silently out bids you…)

  5. Signing Players to Contracts After the 2012 Season • Once the 2012 season is over, each manager will be allotted 3 contracts to 3 players that were on their end of year 2012 season • Each manager will have a 1, 2 and 3 year contract to assign to their players • A three yr deal given at the end of 2012 will run through the 2015 season • A manager does not have to use all contract years if they do not feel they have players worthy of contracts for future years • There will be a signing period, this period will run from some time after the season is over and before the 2013 draft.

  6. How will the 2013 Draft Work? • Each Manager will enter the draft with players already signed to contract (unless they decline to sign anyone) • The draft order will be determined the same as it has in the past (last place from previous season gets first pick) • Each manager that has a player on contract will use their last picks of the draft • (if a manager enters a draft with 3 players under contract, than the last 3 rounds will be dedicated to keeping their contract players)

  7. Trades Trades • Contracts remain with players. If a player under contract is traded, he is traded with his contract. • Trading for future draft picks will be allowed when making trades • Off season trades can be completed but only players that are under contract can be traded. • Each Player’s contract will be notated with an ‘A’ or ‘B’ contract. An ‘A’ Contract indicates that it is the first contract for that player, a ‘B’ indicates that it is the 2nd contract for that player (meaning he has been re-signed after his original contract was up), after a ‘B’ contract is up, that player is automatically put back into the FA/Waiver pool • It should be noted that each Contract Player can only be re-signed only once. Regardless if a player is new to your team, if you traded for him and he only has one year left on his 2nd contract, you will not be able to extend a contract to him at the end of his contract

  8. Dropping a Contact Player • A contract player may be dropped at anytime during a season. • A manager that drops a contract player will face a 10$/season penalty for the remaining years on that players contract • Ex: A manager signs Aluck to a 3 yr deal after the 2012 season (contract good through 2015. If that manager decides to drop Aluck during the 2013 season, they will be hit with a 30$ fine (10$ for each year they are under contract). If that manager decides to drop Aluck during the 2014 season, that manager will face a 20$ fine. • When/If a Contract Player is dropped before their contract is up, that managers team will be immediately locked until that manager pays their penalty fees • I believe Yahoo will allow us to label each Contract Player as ‘Can’t Cut’ players, so that there will be less of a chance that a Contract Player being accidently dropped • Once a Contract Player is dropped and is in the FA/Waiver pool, they no longer have any contract ties.

  9. Injury Reserve • A Player that is under contract that lands on the IR, may be dropped, or the manager can keep them on the team in their IR spot • There is no financial penalty to drop a Contract Player that hits the IR, you will only suffer the loss of that particular contract • If the Contract Player is dropped because hitting the IR, that manager will not receive any extra contract time that year. Each manager will need to wait until the end of the season to sign any new contract players • The IR reserve rule works the same with a player that early retires

  10. Closing Comments • The main goal for this format change is to encourage more strategery, more continuity from season to season, promote the possibility for more trades and enhance the overall MMM experience • We believe that we have come up with a new Fantasy Format that will take the MMM into a new era of excitement and competition • The 2012 season will remain mostly the same as it has for the past few years • The Auction Waiver Wire will be different and I think unquestionably a value ad to the league • The forethought that you can sign 3 players past the 2012 season could slightly change your drafting strategy (rookies could look a bit more appealing if you think you can find a stud…) • As it has been since the beginning of this league, all managers will be given fair warning of all changes to the league , changes will not be put into play until the next season so nobody gets an unfair advantage. ~unless a vote is taken by the full league and everyone is in agreeance. • This format has been put together by Zmiller, Jbircher, Tmihaly, Cheid and Kwiday (although KW had very little input, he disappointed a lot of people on the committee)
