  1. UNDERSTANDING THE cREATION The Sixth Day Wild Animals, Livestock, and Human Beings Created

  2. Genesis 1:24-27 • And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock , creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And god saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” • So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

  3. Genesis 28-31 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day.

  4. One Example – The Giraffe • Tail up to 8 feet long • Heart 2 feet long • Four chambered stomach • Jugular vein contains many one-way valves • Neck too short to reach the ground • Baby walks in 1 hour

  5. The Incomprehensible Spider • Specialized organs produce liquid silk • On contact with air it dries to microscopic threads • Hundreds of spool-like organs spin the thread into a silk cord • Web built to complex & precise designs • Baby builds web just like its parent’s design

  6. The Brown Bear Sleeps & Slims Down • In the warm half of the year it gorges itself to build up fat and gain weight • In the cold half of the year it sleeps in a den or “hibernates”

  7. God Made Domestic Animals for Us Camel – meat, milk, transportation Cat– companionship Cow – meat, milk, leather, fertilizer Dog – companionship Donkey – transportation Duck – meat, eggs Goat – meat, milk Goose – meat, feathers Honey Bee – pollination Horse – transportation Pig – meat Pigeon – messenger Reindeer – meat, milk Sheep – wool, meat Silkworm– silk Turkey– meat, feathers Water Buffalo – meat, milk Note: most of these animals also provide leather-type hides for many products

  8. Cattle & Cows – Perfectly Designed and Constructed Can eat and digest grass Has four stomach chambers Provides many things for us: (milk, meat, hide, bones for gelatin, fertilizer)

  9. A Cow’s Digestive System • Cows are ruminants with a unique digestive system that repeatedly regurgitates and re-chews their “cud”. The “cud’ is digested by special bacteria and fungal microbes that live in the rumen – one of the four compartments of a cow’s stomach.

  10. Cuts of Meat from a Steer • Brisket • Chuck & Blade • Flank • Leg • Neck & Clod • Ribs • Rump • Silverside • Sirloin • Topside

  11. The Amazing Camel • Designed to help humans in desert operations • Has hump to store fat for a reserve of food • Stomach has built-in “canteen” of 30 gal of water • Has huge hooves for efficient desert traveling

  12. The Remarkable Cat’s Eye See well at night Eyes designed for “night vision” Eyes designed for motion detection But, their eyes don’t respond well to colors.

  13. Leafcutter Ants and Symbiotic Relationships • Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. • Proverbs 6:6-8

  14. Compass Termites Know the Direction of the North Pole • Also called “magnetic termites”, they are designed to sense magnetic North to build their homes in Australia with the long axis pointing north and south. This is for temperature control.

  15. The Land Snail Locks Itself Inside for Protection in Cold Weather In cold weather and drought they withdraw into their shell When conditions improve, they come out of their shell

  16. More on How Animals Cope in Extreme Weather Conditions In Hot Conditions, they: find shade enter cool water cover themselves with mud sweat for evaporative cooling increase surface area for air exposure expand folds in their skin In Cold Conditions, they: produce antifreeze grow dense fur hibernate expose themselves to the hot sun

  17. A Preliminary Summary Here * How does the following show us that animals were specially designed? Giraffe, Spider, Brown Bear, Cow, Camel, Ant, Compass Termite, Land Snail, - - - - * What do you feel is the most useful domestic animal for we human beings? Horse, Cattle, Cow, Dog, Cat, - - - -

  18. Understanding the Creationthe Sixth Day The Amazing Human Being Created You and I ! God’s Grandest Creation!

  19. The Amazing Uniqueness of the Human Being • God – consciousness • Moral consciousness • Intellect and Will • Abstract thinking skill • Communication skill • Able to question • Show emotions • Show creativity

  20. One Species; One Sub-Species • Let us make MAN in our image, in our likeness, and let them Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over the earth, and all the creatures that move along the ground. • Genesis 1:26

  21. Average Normal Body Temp • Humans 98.6 F. • Horse 100 • Cattle 101 • Donkey 101 • Sheep 102 • Pig 102 • Camel 94 to 106 • Chicken 108

  22. More on Our Amazing Body – “Important Notice: Breast Milk is Best for Babies” • “The baby should be exclusively breast fed for the first six months of life to achieve optimal development and health” • Baby’s immune system needs antibodies provided initially only by mother’s milk • Mother’s milk becomes richer over time as baby grows and is able to take on a diet “Infants should be exclusively breastfed for six months to get the proper diet of fat, proteins and vitamins.”

  23. A Purpose for Everything:The Appendix and Blood Clotting Appendix was once thought as vestigal or useless. Actually it is a “safe house” for beneficial bacteria in the human gut. Psalm 139:14 Blood clotting involves scores of independent components – that stop flow from medium sized wounds and cuts. Leviticus 17:11

  24. The Perfect Design of the Head

  25. The Fantastic Human Brain • Cerebrum • Cortex: “Think wrinkles” • Left Brain/Right Brain • The Neuron Forest • Cell Signaling and Coding

  26. Your Eye Doesn’t Transmit Everything

  27. You’re Up to the Plate, With Bat in Hand! A lot is going on in your body: Eyes Brain Muscles

  28. Brain’s Built-In Emergency Mode • A “fight or fight” mechanism in the brain • With danger, our pituitary gland is instructed to secrete adrenaline hormones • Pulse increases, muscles tense, blood pressure increases, eyes dilate, facial muscles tense, perspiration increases, breathing quickens, and more chemicals are secreted to speed blood clotting

  29. Each of Us May be Gifted • Wonderful brain • Inheritance of DNA • “Instinct” actions • Training “muscle memory” • Don’t look down on education and learning to help you get “smarter”

  30. A Final Summary Here - - • What is most special about what you have seen or heard today? • How do you feel about what God has done? • What’s most amazing about the human body? • Mother’s Milk, Design of the Head, and “Fight or Flight” mechanism!
