  2. Foundation Basics • Established 1979 with $250,000 Donation. • Principal is invested. Some gains are retained to grow principal. • The majority of gains are used in grants that achieve the mission of the Foundation, and of the church.

  3. Foundation Basics • Governed by 12-person Board • Grant, Promotion and Legal Committees are open to non-Board members • Church members are Foundation members • Meetings are open to church members

  4. Mission • Southminster Foundation supports the church’s mission with funding for community non-profit programs that serve the needy, and funding for Southminster Presbyterian Church’s building and membership programs.

  5. 2013 Highlights - Financial • Dec. 31, 2013 Managed Assets: $645,684 • 2013 Grants = $18,600 • $9,500 to Community Organizations • $9,100 to Southminster • Total Grants since 1980 > $800,000 • ~ $400,000 to Community Organizations • ~ $400,000 to Southminster

  7. Granting Process • Annual strategy review • Targeting the West-side suburban areas • Once per year grant cycle • February 28th Deadline • Applications through the church or website • 2014: $10,000 in Community Grants • 2014: $9,400 to Southminster
