USA Land of Opportunity: • HUGE importance placed on college/university degree • Plans for admission and financing are made VERY early • “Elite” universities & colleges (ivy league, liberal arts colleges, seven sisters) • students spend much time researching, touring and learning about schools • strong academics, extra curricular & test preparation • Most students live “on campus” • Involved application process with deadlines: • early admission: November 15th • regular admission January 1st

  5. UK • Application is centralized by the UCAS • Elite is similar to USA elite  • not as much focus on college entry testing • strong academics coupled with extra curricular activities • Scotland is different: free tuition for EU students

Bachelor, Master, Doctor, ... „Matura“, no central admin, some require additional tests Tuition: 500-4000CHF/sem. Cost of living 18-28k CHF Application deadline 30. France Université, Institut Universitaire de Technologie, Grande Ecole Licence, Master, Doctorat More rigorous and schooled than Germany/Austria Tough exams for Grande Ecoles by „Admission Post Bac” Otherw. mostly admission-free (->rausprüfen), good French req. Savoir Vivre, low cost, #3 destination
